Why We Ask So Many Questions (And Why It Matters)

Purrfect Love Team

At Purrfect Love, we've seen it too many times: cats adopted with love and good intentions who ended up unsafe, abandoned, or mistreated—simply because the family didn't understand what cats need.

A rushed adoption can lead to heartbreaking situations:

  • Falls from windows or balconies in homes that weren't cat-proofed
  • Abandonment because of completely normal behaviours like scratching, hiding, or nighttime activity
  • Cats escaping and trying to return to their old territory—sometimes with tragic results
  • Health problems from poor nutrition or missed veterinary care

Moving to a new home is a major event for a cat. They form deep bonds with their territory, and even with the gentlest introduction, the process can be overwhelming. Some cats hide for days. Others hiss or seem defensive. Without patience and understanding, families become discouraged—and cats pay the price.

This is why our adoption process involves questions, home visits, and conversations. We're not trying to make things difficult. We're trying to protect both you and your future cat.

Because every cat in our care has already faced hardship. They deserve a future where they won't be abandoned again.
